Description

A supine anti-extension hold that builds the trunk position used in strict calisthenics while allowing clear lever-length regressions.

Setup & Execution

  1. Lie on your back and bring the knees toward the chest with the arms reaching beside the thighs.
  2. Exhale to bring the ribs toward the pelvis and lift the shoulder blades slightly from the floor.
  3. Extend the legs or reach the arms overhead only as far as the lower back stays comfortably connected to the floor.
  4. Hold with steady breathing, then tuck the knees to end the set before trunk position changes.

Coaching Cues

  • Shorten the lever before your back arches.
  • Keep ribs connected to pelvis.
  • Breathe behind the brace.

Common Mistakes

  • Choosing a straight-leg position too early.
  • Pulling aggressively on the neck.
  • Continuing after the lower back lifts.
