Description

A longer steady-state endurance session that develops aerobic durability, pacing discipline, fueling practice, and confidence during extended movement.

Setup & Execution

  1. Review the Mission SOP for duration, terrain, equipment, hydration, and fueling requirements before starting.
  2. Begin conservatively and settle into a sustainable effort with controlled breathing and smooth mechanics.
  3. Practice the planned hydration and fueling schedule while keeping effort steady across terrain changes.
  4. Finish with a gradual cooldown and record pacing, heart rate, fueling, and any discomfort for review.

Coaching Cues

  • Protect the first third.
  • Eat and drink before you feel behind.
  • Keep effort steady when terrain changes.

Common Mistakes

  • Starting at a pace that cannot be sustained.
  • Waiting too long to fuel or hydrate.
  • Turning every long session into a performance test.
