Description

A bodyweight calf exercise that develops ankle plantar-flexion strength and single-leg control using light support for balance when needed.

Setup & Execution

  1. Stand on one foot with the toes pointing forward and use a wall or stable object only for balance.
  2. Keep the working knee straight but not forcefully locked and distribute pressure across the base of the toes.
  3. Rise onto the ball of the foot as high as you can without rolling the ankle outward.
  4. Pause briefly, then lower the heel slowly to the floor before the next repetition.

Coaching Cues

  • Grow tall through the crown of your head.
  • Press through the big-toe side of the foot.
  • Lower all the way with control.

Common Mistakes

  • Bouncing through the bottom.
  • Rolling onto the outside of the foot.
  • Using the support to pull the body upward.
