Description

An angled dumbbell press that emphasizes the upper chest while allowing each shoulder to move independently through a comfortable path.

Setup & Execution

  1. Set the bench to a low or moderate incline and plant both feet firmly on the floor.
  2. Bring the dumbbells to shoulder level with wrists stacked and shoulder blades gently set against the bench.
  3. Lower the weights beside the upper chest with elbows slightly tucked.
  4. Press up and slightly inward without clashing the dumbbells or losing shoulder position.

Coaching Cues

  • Use a modest bench angle.
  • Keep forearms vertical.
  • Press smoothly through both arms.

Common Mistakes

  • Setting the incline so high it becomes a shoulder press.
  • Dropping the elbows too far below the torso.
  • Letting the wrists bend backward.
